Specific Job Duties for the BROADCAST PROGRAMMING MANAGER include:

  • Broadcast/Programming of broadcast-quality Lamar University video material on Channel 7
  • Broadcast/Programming of broadcast-quality B.I.S.D. video material on Channel 7
  • Coordination with B.I.S.D. with regard to the broadcast of B.I.S.D. government/school board meetings
  • Distribution of quality video programming to the Internet
  • Production of informational programs for Lamar University departments
  • Production of event-related programming for Lamar University and university departments
  • Coordination of programming and production with Communication department interns
  • Coordination and quality control relating to all Channel 7 and/or Internet-related programming
  • Production of DVD’s for distribution to Lamar guests, students, or alumni
  • Broadcast of bulletin board related programming on Channel 7
Minimum Qualifications

Skills Necessary for the Position include:
  • Experience/Strong working knowledge with broadcast programming operations
  • Experience/Strong working knowledge with government-related video production
  • Ability to produce effective promotional videos, public service announcements, and informational videos
  • Thorough working knowledge of video camera hardware and operations
  • Effective working knowledge of video editing software and techniques
  • Effective documentary shooting and editing techniques
  • Effective working knowledge of web-based operations/programming
  • Ability to work, plan, and interact with groups representing different university (and non-university) constituencies
  • Ability to train, manage, and coordinate work schedules for small groups of student interns. The student interns will be trained to shoot and edit short informational videos and events
  • Undergraduate degree (preferably Communication, Film, or Broadcast studies) required
  • Advanced video/film production degree preferred
