Plans, directs, and reviews the work of the Buildings & Grounds Maintenance personnel and related offender work crews; provides hands-on maintenance and repair services; ensures that Powhatan Correctional Center Complex is maintained in accordance with the Virginia Department of Corrections standards, policies and procedures, and applicable state codes providing a safe, secure, and healthy environment for the staff and offenders.
High School Diploma or equivalent. Valid Driver's License.
Working knowledge of supervisory principles and practices; estimating, maintenance requirements of the facility (electrical, plumbing, constructing, carpentry and HVAC maintenance/repair and hands-on experience) and fire and safety regulations. Working knowledge of sanitation procedures; building codes and architectural design. Basic computer skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate orally and in writing; to supervise staff and offenders; to analayze problems and recommend solutions; to supervise capital projects; to develop and assist in preparing budgets; to read and interpret building plans and code specifications. Working knowledge of several of the building trades. Ability to plan, assign and supervise the work of a varied group of skilled and semi-skilled workers.
Prefer experience at the Journeyman level.
