Business Analyst, Mutual Fund Transfer Agency
The Product Support department of the transfer agent supports shareholder recordkeeping system needs and development initiatives for John Hancock Funds. The business analyst engages in the successful implementation of business process changes, organizational structure changes, and in the definition of system business requirements in collaboration with the project sponsor and the associated project management team(s). Analysts are involved in all aspects of the project including: workflow analysis, recommending and assisting in the implementation of process changes, requirements definition, documentation and testing.
Conduct data gathering through an organized and thorough approach.
Provide detailed workflow analysis and modeling.
Outline requirements definition and documentation of processes and procedures.
Analyze information including organizational structures, administrative procedures, process maps, staffing, spans of control, cost/benefits and current uses of technology.
Identify relevant business issues and draw sound conclusions from the research, data gathering and analysis to improve productivity, increase organizational effectiveness, improve service/cycle times, and add value.
Collaborate with business areas and technology team in decision making processes regarding changes to existing technologies/business practice and effectively implement technological and business improvements.
Organize & facilitate meetings with business users and stakeholders regarding changes to existing technologies/business practice or in developing new technology and business practices.
Assist senior staff in the documentation of existing and new procedures for business processes. Create project and business requirement documents which support technological and business process changes.
Develop and present technical training to business associates on enhancements and new designs to technology and business practices.
Work with senior analysts/technology team to develop and apply different aspects of system testing. (develop test script, test, track results)
Identify specific improvement opportunities related to process, organizational effectiveness, quality/service enhancements, or technology.
Provide recommendations and implementation of process changes by means of a detailed project management approach.
Provide technical and project management support to JH users of the DST workflow system with regard to current functionality and capabilities, future enhancements and problem resolution.
Support shareholder and intermediary internet products and functionality including assisting in the development and execution of self service, automation and eDelivery strategies.
Coordinate day to day support processes including customer output production/mailing, developing executing and verify daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly mainframe reporting jobs as well as various on-request/ad-hoc applications.
Assist with creation of monthly transfer agent metrics report for Senior Management.
Participate in vendor management oversight.
Assist with all aspects of year-end tax reporting.
College degree or equivalent job experience.
12-18 months transfer agent/industry experience preferred.
Prior financial services industry experience preferred
Highly detail oriented and organized with demonstrated ability to meet assigned deadlines.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Experience with DST TA2000, AWD, Desktop and TRAC.
Experience with DST PowerSelect and TSO a plus.
Intermediate - advanced SharePoint, Word, Excel, Power Point and Visio skills a plus.
