The Business Analyst - Emerging Markets at SouthStar Energy Services is responsible for providing analytical and project support for the retail business unit, specifically the Mass Markets team in a specific market. The job requires synthesizing and incorporating complex data from multiple sources into comprehensive knowledge, actionable insights, and business recommendations. This position interacts with multiple company departments, as well as external vendors. The position requires an understanding of revenue, margin, cost structures and database marketing. An understanding of all functional areas within the Company and their impact on initiatives is important.
Bachelor’s degree in economics, finance, accounting or similar field, or equivalent work experience. MBA preferred.
Significant experience in the field.
Normally 3-5 years applicable experience is required, less may be acceptable.
Strong working knowledge of SQL, database schemas and Excel.
Must be able to develop and maintain programs, models and queries.
Minimal supervision is required.
Must be able to demonstrate working independently, yet operating effectively as a team player.
Must be self motivated.
Attendance is an essential function: interaction with co-workers with little or no notice is required.

Financial Forecasting and Analysis
Conducts analysis from multiple inputs of data.
Calculates financial variances versus budget and performs sensitivity analysis as requested by management.
Performs analysis associated with evaluating the Company’s firm customer base, including analysis of each of the retail markets.
Summarizes key findings and develops internal reports for managements.
Assist business owners in developing customer forecasts, program results and profitability, and pricing strategies
Perform ad-hoc data requests
Compiles monthly firm market pricing data
Leads cross-functional efforts to establish proper prices by market
Evaluates pricing plans and strategies in order to maximize firm market profitability.
Facilitates as a potential business owner for new products, modifications to existing processes, and creation of new processes.
Understand and communicate drivers of current and forecast Business Unit performance, predictability, profitability and productivity to management and functional areas.
Create business cases and return on investment (ROI) analyses to model the impact of new products, marketing programs, etc. in support of BU activities.
Analyzes data, creates summary reporting and performs sensitivity analysis to support the decision making of senior management and other departments in the company.
Produces daily, weekly, and monthly reports
Works with business owners to create new reports to enable them to more effectively manage each market
