As a Senior Accountant you will develop, interpret and implement complex financial and accounting concepts or techniques for financial planning and control. You will support the general ledger closing cycle, fixed asset management, inventory control management, financial statement reporting and projects requiring financial expertise.
Among many responsibilities, this position is involved in the following activities on a regular basis:
Applies and monitors compliance with corporate financial policies and generally accepted accounting principles.
Assists in the development of budget, planning and other corporate financial requirements.
Participates in month-end, quarter-end and year-end general ledger closing cycle and financial statement preparation.
Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare journal entries.
Audits and prepares information or report to substantiate account reconciliations and balances.
Collects appropriate data and prepares compliance returns.
Prepares and organizes data for audit.
Determines proper handling of financial transactions and approves transactions within designated limits.
Reviews, investigates, documents and coordinates implementation of accounting systems and internal control procedures.
Analyzes financial and non-financial information to identify trends or concerns, providing information to leadership to improve present and future financial performance.
Preparation of studies, reports and analysis in areas such as margin, budgets, forecasts, financial plans and statistical reports.
Conducts studies and submits recommendations for improving the organizations accounting processes and procedures.
Review and analyze product, labor and overhead variances, works closely with Plant Cost Accountants.
Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned. (i.e., expense report processing, transportation reporting, policy management, goal tracing and reporting, etc…).
Adheres to the mission and cornerstone values and applicable practices of the organization.
Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by reading appropriate book, journals and other literature and attending related conferences, seminars, etc.
Key qualifications and requirements for this position include:
Bachelor degree in Accounting or related field
CPA or CMA designation a plus
Five to ten years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Manufacturing accounting is highly perferred
