Chevron is accepting online applications for the position of Business Analyst-Information Technology located in Houston, TX through June 7, 2013 at 11:59 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time).

Position Details:
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • The successful candidate will work on projects with multiple operating companies and Information Technology Company (ITC) personnel at various levels within each organization. Business Analysis brings an enterprise view to build a solid understanding of the business through close collaboration with business partners/stakeholders and translates that understanding to enable the delivery of business solutions. Core elements include, but are not limited to:
    • Understanding the business opportunity
    • Eliciting, documenting, and finalizing business requirements (e.g. processes, data, business rules, functions, etc.)
    • Identifying alternative(s) in context of business opportunity and business processes.
    • Ensuring business requirements are met
    • Managing applications portfolio in tandem with changing business climate and business processes.
  • This position's primary responsibility, from a central IT perspective, will provide both run and change support to Upstream Base Business' IDMS Program which helps drive the success of SERIP (Surface Equipment Reliability and Integrity Process). This position will initially participate as a team member on the IDMS project to build capability around the software and business processes. As the project comes to a close, the BA will transition into the operations side to support the IDMS application(s) from Central IT organization. Support will include, but not limited to activities such as: new deployments, trouble-shoot production issues, liaison between end-users and business partners, and coordinate compliance activities.
    Required Qualifications:

    Technical Skills:

  • Troubleshooting issues related to software deployment or support.
  • Leads and consults on strategic direction of the technical architecture of IDMS software and hardware.
  • Helps implement standard IT architecture in order to ensure long term sustainability of products being deployed.
  • Develops technical and functional specifications, translating business needs into high level technical documents that provide the technical details.
  • Participates in and leads efforts in quality assurance and acceptance testing of maintenance, enhancements and new systems.
  • Must have basic understanding of database design and database concepts.

    Non-technical Skills:

  • Works with business partners to accurately gather requirements for deploying the Integrity Data Management System (IDMS) across Chevron Business Units.
  • Actively participates on the governance board for IDMS.
  • Develop functional specifications to meet project and business needs.
  • Makes certain that adequate training and documentation are delivered with any new system or enhancement.
  • Acts as a liaison with the business unit functional SME(s) and IT support staff(s) during business engagements.
  • Ability to act as the liaison between our business partners and the vendor.
  • Fosters relationships with business unit stakeholders to better understand how Information Technology can be used to support their needs.
  • Must understand application lifecycle management and project management concepts such as CPDEP.

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Materials Management systems.
  • Plant Maintenance systems.
  • Inspection Maintenance systems.
