Reporting into the Executive Director, Business Analytics in Cisco’s US Enterprise Sales organization, the Business Value Analyst’s primary role is to demonstrate the financial and strategic business benefits of investing in Cisco solutions and to create competitive differentiation for the end customer and for Cisco
The Business Analytics Practice helps our customers innovate, make better decisions, drive efficiency and generate new revenue through the effective use of data and analytics. Customer engagements deal with the full business analytics value chain – from gathering data through the network and from structured and unstructured data sources, to storing, computing, managing and securing that data, through to end use in providing business intelligence, supporting decisions and enhancing customer experience.
The Business Value Analyst has four key responsibilities:
• Drive engagement-led asset creation for the Business Analytics Practice
• Conduct discovery engagements with a limited number of accounts to jointly identify and quantify the potential business value impact of Cisco solutions (e.g. Cash Flow, ROI, NPV)
• Leverage engagements to develop reusable assets and tools (e.g. order of magnitude models, discovery and data collection templates, financial business cases, etc.) that facilitate the identification and quantification of potential business value impact of Cisco solutions leveraging industry insights and benchmarks, and empirical improvement benchmarks
• Drive adoption of the assets/tools by Practice Advisors and Account Teams to scale use of the customer value approach
• Lay out a ‘route to value’ showing how the customer can achieve this value – identifying critical success factors and potential barriers to adoption and change and working with the Practice Advisors and Account Team to make recommendations as appropriate
• Work post-sale to position customer to measure and realize success against original objectives and targets and to use that knowledge to refine assets/tools and enhance empirical improvement benchmarking
• Additional job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Work with the Practice leadership team to develop the Business Value Map and to then develop and execute a strategy for delivering key customer value assets/tools against that
• Work with Business Value Analysts supporting other Practices to drive asset/tool standardization
• Become the "industry-expert" with respect to building financial & strategic business cases within the Business Analytics space
• Partner closely with Practice Architect to align the technology architecture to the customer’s desired business outcome

• Subject matter expertise in the technology platforms that collect, manage and analyze data
• Experience in the area of data gathering from emerging sources (smart sensors, mobile devices, social media, video, text-to-speech, etc.) a plus
• Demonstrated experience, commitment and passion regarding the potential of business analytics to solve business challenges and deliver business value
• Understanding of competitive and partner landscape; Developed point of view on Cisco’s potential and limits in the Business Analytics marketplace
• Visibility and contacts in the Business Analytics community

• Consultative solutions/business-value problem solving approach to engagements with C-Level and senior executive leaders
• Financial acumen necessary to develop and present a comprehensive business case
• Ability to work across multiple dimensions of building a Team, Business, Practice
• Strong communication and listening skills, a thorough approach to complex problem solving, managing to metrics and KPIs
• 10+ years IT/consulting industry experience

• Entrepreneurial spirit and a demonstrated ability to be flexible, positive, and creative in a dynamic, fast paced and challenging environment
• Ability to listen, establish relationships, gain consensus, rapidly establish credibility with and gain confidence of multiple areas across Cisco, Partners, the extended team and direct reports
