Job Title: Business Development - Energy Alternatives
Reports To : VP of Operations - Energy Alternatives
Essential Job Functions:
Develop business development strategy and implement plan for new business opportunities for Energy Alternatives (EA) in accordance with CEI corporate goals and financial objectives
Identify potential new customers, make initial contacts with key management and decision-makers, evaluate their needs, and coordinate execution of NDAs
Document and communicate competitive advantages of CEI, and present to prospective customers
Deliver presentations to key customers in coordination with CEI executives or EA team members
Meet with customers to develop trusted relationships, deepen involvement, identify new business, and provide opportunities to bid on their future projects
Work with EA management to evaluate potential opportunities, negotiate contracts, and initiate the preparation of proposals for selected projects
Conduct site evaluations, analyses of electricity usage, energy production modeling, and financial analyses for prospective customers
Serve as primary contact with key customers, and work to grow long-term relationships to secure additional business opportunities beyond initial projects and create strong reference accounts
Analyze and document customer requirements, technology assessments, and market feedback for EA management and team members to drive improvements to the group’s solutions for meeting emerging customer needs and to create profitable business opportunities
Evaluate and pursue strategic partnerships to drive development of new business
Monitor and evaluate market activities, financial incentives, policy developments, business strategies, competitor offerings, and industry trends. Gather and communicate competitive intelligence.
Provide input and recommendations regarding marketing communications, including development of collateral, website, trade shows, and other events
Develop and maintain corporate CRM database system (salesforce.com) with current accurate information regarding leads, customers, contacts, communications, and opportunities
Provide regular business opportunities reports and presentations to management
Team with Project Managers, Estimators, Engineers, Administrators, Purchasing, Production, Marketing/PR, Legal, and Finance to insure successful bids, project development and customer satisfaction.
Represent CEI at social and industry events, and network to enhance relationships with customers, manufacturers, utilities, consultants, governmental officials, business sustainability professionals, and other stakeholders in the solar industry
Provide guidance to other team members, and manage staff (as needed) to meet objectives
Travel as needed to meet with key customers and partners
Minimum Job Requirements
Bachelors degree in a related major
Minimum of 2 years experiecnce selling commercial rooftop and ground mount Solar PV Projects with a proven history of completed successful projects and a minimum of 10 years professional work experience.
Good understanding of various technologies, products and applications including modules, racking and inverters, cost factors, constructability issues, project finance, financial incentives for solar, and projects viability screening capabilities.
Marketing knowledge/skllls is desired.
