UNIVERSITY DESCRIPTION: Valley City State University (VCSU) is an institution of higher education accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (a Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools) and the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education. The Department of Music is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music. VCSU is authorized to offer BA, BS, BS in Education, BUS and M.Ed. degrees. COMMUNITY: Valley City is a community of approximately 6,500 people, located in the beautiful Sheyenne River Valley in the east central portion of the state. Fargo-Moorhead, a metropolitan area, is located 60 miles east of Valley City on Interstate 94. Minneapolis-St. Paul and Winnipeg, Manitoba are within 300 miles on Interstate 94 and Interstate 29, respectively. The location of the community lends itself to cultural and recreational activities.
POSITION DESCRIPTION: Primary responsibility is to teach business education teaching methods, introductory accounting classes, business courses in the undergraduate business administration, and supervise student teachers in business education, will assist in recruiting and advising a diverse student population for the programs. Will participate in assessment and planning business programs, serve on committees, perform division and university activities, professional development, and provide service to the overall university and business communities. Assignment may include teaching over an interactive video network, online courses, and/or divisional administrative duties.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: An earned master's degree in Business Education, Education, or related field based on position description above. Five years teaching business courses at the secondary level. Experience with CTE student organizations. Background in instructional technologies, and demonstrated skills using technology. Excellent communication skills and flexibility to work in a dynamic environment.
QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED: A terminal degree in Business Education, Education, or related field. Five years teaching Business Education at the secondary level and experience teaching Business Education Methods at the post-secondary level.
SALARY, BENEFITS, AND TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: Commensurate with education and experience. Group health and disability are provided. Participation in TIAA-CREF is part of the state higher education retirement program. This is a nine-month, full-time, tenured track position. Criminal background checks will be conducted on all hires. Duties begin August 2013.
