Scope & Knowledge
Focuses on the accounting, financial planning, analysis and reporting in a business area for a CFO finance support group of operating and capital expense budgets and the allocation of costs to various dimensions e.g. firm level, legal entity, product line customer segment, etc. Develops and maintains financial reporting structures, account structures, procedures, audit controls, etc. Ensures optimal resource utilization through cost-benefit analysis, scenario planning, and other analytical techniques.
Serves as SME for the financial oversight and management of the business group. Provides advice on initiatives across the business area. May lead efforts to develop reporting and control procedures for the business area. Serves as SME regarding the business area’s budgeting and planning processes and reports. (e.g. Budgets, Financial Plans, Scorecards and Action Plans). Mentors others in the development of financial evaluations and assessments of business opportunities / alternatives and provide comprehensive analysis documentation that assists in decision making to achieve leadership objectives.
Networks with personnel internally and across groups to resolve issues, gain needed information and influence outcomes. Leads or contributes to decisions and projects that have a moderate to high impact to the organization. Communicates with the business units, areas and operations departments to develop an action plan for resolution. Gains cooperation and commitment to take action from staff, peers, internal and external customers/contacts. Occasionally interacts with internal and external auditors. Interactions require fulfilling requests for information.
Oversight/Freedom To Act
Works independently receiving little instruction on day-to-day work, receives general guidance and review on new assignments. Provide feedback and guidance to junior staff to help strengthen specific knowledge/skills needed to accomplish a task or solve a problem. Provides input to performance appraisals and development plans during the annual and interim performance evaluations process. Recommend and implement changes to methods of performing work. Provide input to policy to manage risk and exposure to the organization. Assigned to special/unique/high profile projects with functional/firm wide scope requiring specialized knowledge and experience.
Experience, Degrees & Certifications
Minimum 6 years of business planning/strategic development experience with proven track record managing teams Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience in Accounting, Finance or related field required. MBA preferred.
