The Manager, Business Unit Liaison position is an exciting and challenging opportunity for a dynamic professional who seeks to build on their existing accounting and audit experience through in-depth exposure to a fast-paced international business. In this highly visible role you will act as the primary contact to liaise between internal audit and the UTC business units. The role will allow you to interact with senior management across various business units and within corporate finance. The purpose of the role is to assist internal audit in obtaining a broader understanding of the business and the associated risks to increase the effectiveness of the internal audit function.
UTC's internal audit teams conduct compliance and risk-based audits and recommend strategic solutions to the UTC business units. The internal audit department is developmental in nature and employees are assisted in furthering career goals through placement into business unit roles. This group is seen as a key entry point into the business units within UTC. UTC Internal Audit drives effective risk management, identifies opportunities for enhanced efficiency, fosters compliance and facilitates constructive change.
Position responsibilities include:
Liaise with senior financial business unit management to understand potential risk to their respective business units.
Work closely with business unit management to fully understand their respective business needs and control environment.
Build relationships with assigned business unit organization.
Perform risk assessments in conjunction with business units and internal audit.
Support development of risk-based audit plan by working with Internal Audit leadership team.
Provide guidance on business units to audit teams to support the effective execution of audits.
Create clear and concise reports as necessary.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives/process improvements to assist in the evaluation of risk.
Bachelors Degree in Finance, Accounting or related business discipline(s).
CPA, MBA will be considered a strong plus, however not required.
Eight to fourteen years of progressively responsible work experience.
Exposure to a manufacturing environment a plus.
Demonstrated leadership competencies with the ability to work effectively across all levels and functions within the business.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to facilitate diverse groups towards operational efficiencies.
Strong analytical, problem solving, organizational and relationship building skills.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Strong ability to effectively prioritize competing demands and meet key deliverables.
Ability to adapt to changing environment and adjust priorities to meet key deliverables with high quality.
Proactive and results/metrics driven.
Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
travel is approximately 30%, dependent on business unit responsibility and associated locations.
