Responsibilities include the execution of scheduling and purchasing functions and the development of control measures to prevent shortages. Analyze MRP requirements to generate and manage purchase orders and production orders for internal/external customer demands. Determine quantities and timing of materials

to control inventory flow and ensure continuity of supply in executing

demand schedules. The individual will be involved in improving processes and strategies in order to minimize inventory exposure while maximizing customer service through increased supply availability.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Daily review of ERP reports to provide accurate and timely resolution of material shortages.
Assure economic supply through the procurement of goods, supplies and services.
Contribute to profits by efficiently controlling the total cost to the operation.
To keep inventories throughout the supply chain as low as is consistent with company needs and objectives
To carry out programs to continually reduce total cost of purchases
To recommend and/or develop effective controls and procedures
Perform work efficiently and accurately.
Accept that periodic assignment changes are sometimes required in a dynamic business environment.
Seek to continually improve process effectiveness.
Know supplier capabilities and limitations.
Foster long-term supplier relationships.
Recognize that the suppliersÂ’ success reflects on his or her individual performance.
Keep abreast of market and technology developments. (I.E.; rig counts, cost of metal)
Work within procedures and guidelines of the department.
Maintain the highest personal ethical standards.
Know how to tactfully challenge specifications and delivery dates that affect the ability to assure supply.
Pitch in to help other buyers during times where workloads become strained.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum 3 - 5 years planning or purchasing.
  • BachelorÂ’s degree preferred
  • APICS/CPSM Certification a plus
  • Demonstrate ability to use the Business Operating System
  • Effective communication - both oral and written
  • Close attention to detail
  • Sound problem-solving skills
  • Strong Negotiation Skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks effectively and efficiently with minimal supervision
  • Above average computer skills - Word and Excel
  • Ensure that all customers, both internal and external, are treated with respect and integrity
Travel and Special Assignments:
Travel will be required on an as needed basis to suppliers and Tesco Facilities
Employee will be required to facilitate urgent after-hours requirements through participating in the on-call rotation at a minimum of once per month.

Environment:
Office environment which can be full of distractions and noisy at times.
Warehouse and/or shop visits may be required to fulfill job duties; the environment requires proper protective equipment to include steel-toe safety shoes, safety glasses, and hard hat. Employee may be exposed to elevated noise levels, dust, and other harsh conditions.
