The CDL Operator is responsible for delivering customers’ orders, unloading the delivery at each stop, returning loaded goods when required to do so, and operate deliveries between company distribution centers. This position involved operating vehicles requiring CDL (Commercial Driver’s License), as defined by DOT/FMCA rules and Hazardous Material CDL Endorsement.
Responsible for operation of company CDL vehicles to deliver orders to customers including, but not limited to:
•Use safe work practices to perform all job responsibilities in a manner compliant with:
oDOT, FMCA and CSA regulations (Federal and State)
oHOS regulations as defined by DOT
oCompany safety policies and procedures
oCompany Standard Operational procedure
•Interact with customers in a friendly and courteous manner
oInteract with the general public in a friendly and courteous manner conductive to a professional driver
oInteract with the companies suppliers in a friendly and courteous manner conductive to a professional driver
•Unload deliveries by hand at customer facilities as needed
oUse of material handling equipment are required
oOperate pallet jacks, two-wheel and four-wheel carts
•Accurately produce and complete necessary paperwork applicable to job responsibilities
•Complete all company and DOT required records and paperwork
•Maintain vehicle in a clean and safe manner
•Other related duties as assigned
Minimum Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent is required. Required to have previous proven accident free experience safely operating a CDL tractor-trailer conducive to company specifications. A clean driving record for a minimum of 5 years, possession of a valid CDL qualification as defined by FMCA Title 49 DOT, and the ability to safely operate an appropriate vehicle is required. The ability to pass a stringent road test. A CDL Haz-Mat Certification is required. Must be capable of interacting with customers in a friendly and courteous manner. Effectively communicating with personnel within organization. Basic reading and math skills are required. The ability to remain seated for long periods while driving. Ability to unload customer deliveries by hand and place in customer facility. Lift, handle, and carry 30 lbs. on a repetitive basis and up to 7- lbs. on an occasional basis. Must be able to operate warehouse equipment, including fork trucks and material handling. Must be able to climb in and out of semi-trailer. Must be available for overnight travel and multiple overnight travel scenarios.
