AVI Foodsystems, INC is seeking a qualified candidate with a minimum of 5 years experience in New England to join our team at Wellesley College! This position offers excellent opportunities for advancement for an outgoing and enthusiastic, career-minded individual. This is a hands on role that will support a busy retail/ board operation. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Report to a General Manager who oversees all functions of the retail and board plan food operations. Plans, organizes, and directs the work of cooks, and other team members engaged in the procurement, storage, preparation, and serving of food. Assists in preparation of budget estimates and justifications for the food service program and maintains cost controls; plans and directs the ordering, receiving, and accounting of all food products, supplies, and equipment for food operation. Reviews and evaluates existing operational methods and procedures of food service program for effectiveness and efficiency, initiating changes as necessary to ensure compliance with federal, state, and county laws, rules, and regulations. Assists in interviewing, selecting, hourly team members per the union bargaining agreement Takes leadership in mentoring and growing team members. Oversees the food safety aspects of the food service department to ensure full compliance with federal, state and other regulatory agencies. Participates in the development and adherence of policies and procedures that direct food preparation, distribution and service, purchasing, sanitation, safety practices, performance improvement, and staff education and development. Other duties and responsibilities as necessary.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Minimum 5 years of food service chef/management experience, must be within in a corporate and/or college setting. A formal culinary degree is preferred, but not required. Must have prior experience leading, motivating and developing teams. Prior union experience essential. Proven ability in meeting and maintaining budget goals is necessary. The individual must possess the ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form with clients and support staff; the ability to plan, organize, and direct the work of others; and the ability to organize tasks and work independently.
