Regular, Full-Time, RCUH Non-Civil Service position with the College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources (CTAHR), Children’s Healthy Living (CHL) Program, located in Honolulu, Hawaii. Continuation of employment is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, availability of funds, and compliance with applicable Federal/State laws.


DUTIES: Responsible for overseeing the information technology (IT) infrastructure and activities of the CHL Program. Develops an overall IT vision and strategy to support the mission, core objectives, and activities of the CHL Program. Coordinates IT development in collaboration with the CHL Coordinating Center and other CHL sites. Directs, prepares, implements, and monitors all information technology policies, procedures, and standards to ensure compliance with all university, state, and federal rules, requirements, and regulations. Manages IT staff employed by the CHL Program. Designs, develops, installs, implements, and maintains all primary and back up databases, servers, and network hardware and software for the CHL Program. Designs, develops, and implements all system interfaces. Implements an optimal program of desktop support. Directs all hardware and software purchases, set-up, and implementation for CHL study staff, researchers, and management.

PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Information Technology or a related field (Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and at least two (2) years of experience performing comparable job duties may substitute for a Master’s Degree). EXPERIENCE: Three to five (3-5) years IT experience, including at least two (2) years supervisory and/or management experience. Experience should include leadership experience. ABIL/KNOW/SKILLS: Strong understanding of all primary areas of IT (i.e., network, information security, programming, server design and maintenance, database management, and desktop support). Working knowledge of most languages and protocols (i.e. Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP-IP), Structured Query Language (SQL), Hypertext Preprocessor (PHP), etc.). Proficient with both OS X (Macintosh) and Windows operating systems. Able to demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills. Able to write/adapt training manuals and summary reports. Must have strong organizational, planning, and problem solving skills. Post Offer/Employment Condition: Must be able to pass a post offer criminal background check. PHYSICAL/MEDICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to lift and carry up to fifty (50) pounds of equipment.
