Duties Summary:
Develops and maintains civil defense operational plans for the prevention and/or mitigation of major disasters and/or implementation of disaster response; coordinates the development and maintenance of disaster response plans required of State departments and county civil defense agencies; develops and conducts disaster operational readiness evaluation programs for State departments and counties; assists in the coordination of field operations upon implementation of disaster response plans; may coordinate and direct assistance programs following major disasters; and performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualification Requirements:
To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements:
Basic Education: A bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.

Experience: Four years of progressively responsible experience which provided knowledge of disaster assistance programs and which demonstrated the ability to analyze and evaluate factors associated with the effects of major disasters on civilian population. Such experience must have included the preparation of operational plans designed to provide emergency actions and procedures to be implemented in times of major disasters, and participation in the operations of an emergency operating center.

License: Applicants must possess a valid driver's license.

Special Travel Requirement: A condition of work for this position is that you must travel to all islands in the State of Hawaii. The length of time away from Honolulu may be for less than a day or longer.

Special Availability Requirement: A condition of work for this position is that you may be required to carry a radio pager during working hours and after-hours. As an employee of a public safety agency, all employees are subject to recall for emergencies at any time.
