The College of Nursing is recruiting creative and highly motivated individuals specializing in psychiatric/mental health nursing who are seeking to advance their academic careers.
University of Florida (UF) is one of the nation’s top twenty Association of American Universities ( AAU ) public research universities. With more than 50,000 students, UF is the fourth largest university in the nation. UF’s remarkably diverse campus in north central Florida includes a major arts and sciences component, as well as the Institute of Food and Agricultural Science, the Health Science Center, an internationally recognized Brain Institute, an Institute on Aging, Genetics Institute, Cancer Center, and Comprehensive Center for Pain Research. Faculty members enjoy opportunity for joint appointment with these institutes and centers.
The College of Nursing offers nationally accredited baccalaureate (generic and accelerated) and master’s degree programs ( CNL ) as well as the state’s oldest PhD in Nursing Science. A cooperative PhD Degree provides doctoral education to four consortium universities. A Doctor of Nursing Practice ( DNP ) degree was initiated in Fall 2006. The College was one of the first four VA Academy education partnerships in the country to receive major grant support for increased student enrollment and faculty retention.
The College is part of a world-class health science center, one of only three in Florida, and the flagship university in the state. Major areas of faculty research are public health, mental health, aging, cancer, and health policy. The College is a major partner in UF’s newly funded Center for Translational Science Institute ( CTSI ). The College’s Office of Research Support ( ORS ) and CTSI offer outstanding mentorship and assistance for new and experienced researchers. An active faculty practice offers opportunities for interdisciplinary work and leadership in nurse-managed practices. The College has four endowed professorships for senior level faculty.
Graduate preparation in psychiatric/mental health nursing. Candidate must be eligible for FL RN licensure and relevant advanced practice certification.
