Stonington Institute began serving recovering
alcoholics in 1957 as Starlight Farms, a working farm where adults in
recovery were introduced to the principles of Alcoholics Anonymous.
Today, we are the longest continually operating, free-standing,
voluntary treatment facility in New England. Our main campus is
located in North Stonington, CT, in its original private and peaceful
rural setting. We have additional clinical sites in Groton, CT.
Transportation and off-campus housing assistance make our programs
and services accessible to a statewide clientele. Those programs
include: medical detoxification, rehabilitation/residential
treatment, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient treatment
(both day and evening) and ambulatory detoxification, as well as
residential addictions treatment for active duty and retired military
servicemembers. The Institute accepts private insurance, state-funded
plans and self pay arrangements.

The Clinician is a CT licensed therapist who will provide
group services to adults with substance abuse and co-occurring
psychiatric disorders within a partial hospital program. The
Clinician is responsible for treatment and discharge planning,
individual and group therapy, psycho-education, family
services, and related documentation. The Clinician will provide
services in conjunction with other members of the multi-disciplinary
treatment team.

The Clinician must have working knowledge of symptoms and
course of major mental disorders, counseling techniques and
community resources; the ability to provide comprehensive
clinical assessment services, including DSM-IV TR diagnosis,
mental status, treatment response and safety evaluation; the ability
to communicate, through psychoeducation and family education
sessions, appropriate information about substance abuse; the ability
to manage and coordinate individualized client care; and demonstrated
ability to comply with documentation standards of the
agency, Joint Commission and DPH.

This position is
three (3) evenings per week, 5:00 pm - 9:30 pm.


CT licensure required (LPC, LADC, LCSW, LMFT), as
is experience working with individuals with co-occurring mental
health diagnoses. Must hold Master’s Degree from an accredited
school of Social Work or in related field (i.e., agency counseling,
mental health counseling, etc.).
