Position Summary
Under the direction and guidance of the Registered Nurse and Licensed Practical Nurse, the Certified Nurses Assistant/Ward Clerk assists other members of the health care team in delivering direct patient care in order to support health, life, and the equality of life.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Patient Care
Initiates guest relations and welcomes patients/families to unit, sets up patient room supplies and orients patient and family to hospital environment and routine
Obtains patient vital signs, including pain scale, height, and weight at admission and consistently throughout the patients stay
Provides all ADL cares to patients including; oral, grooming, personal hygiene, dressing, bathing, range of motion, ambulation, dining.
Delivers care according to patients individual care plan. in a manner that respects the residents dignity and privacy
Collects and labels specimens and performs waived testing per unit expectation
Accesses locked med rooms for the purpose of restocking and other clerical functions
Communication
Reports changes in patient status to nurse
Records entries on daily flow sheets and documents as required per departmental policies and procedures including ADLs, intake and output, vital signs, pain scale, waive testing per unit expectation, and restraints Environment of Care
Maintains unit equipment and ensures that equipment is clean, stored in the appropriate storage area, and ready for use
Removes defective equipment from service and reports any non-working or unsafe equipment or facility fixtures
Ward Clerk Duties
Coordinates bed assignments for admissions, transferring, and discharges with appropriate staff.
Assembles patient charts and maintains charts with appropriate forms, enters physician orders, files reports, assures all forms are in correct order, analyzes medical record for completeness, implements downtime forms as appropriate
At discharge, prepares discharge forms as indicated and also prepares current and old medical records for Health Information Department.

Education, Experience and Licensure/Certification Requirements Requirements are
representative of the minimum level of knowledge, skills and/or abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the position
Current MT Certified Nurses Assistant certification
High School diploma or equivalent
Current Basic Life Support certification
Previous work experiences in the health care industry, as a Certified Nurses Assistant or Patient Care Aide, preferred
Ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically within a multi-functional team
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to successfully function in a fast paced, service oriented environment
Experience in understanding and usage of computers as well as the ability to learn applications relevant to the position

Job Schedule: Full Time (36-40 hrs/week)
Job Shift: Variable
Job Hours: 3 -12hour shifts
