OPERATOR-CNC/Welder

TORQUE CONVERTER

Job Description

The CNC machining operator is responsible for producing CNC machined torque converter components. This person is also responsible for operating secondary processes / machines like welding and hardening. S/he is responsible for quality checks using appropriate gages as necessary. This person is responsible for operation of Plasma/MIG/Laser welding of torque converter component parts in a group incentive environment. S/he will set up and operate automated MIG welding equipment and submit samples for metallurgical testing. This person will also be responsible for quality checks using appropriate gages as necessary. This person must pay significant attention to detail, must be self-motivated, and must be able to function as a team member in a group incentive environment. S/he will cooperate and communicate with all levels of the department and organization. This person may be called to work on other Assembly areas as needed. This person will maintain productivity standards and perform changeovers while exhibiting cooperation and communication skills. S/he must perform self inspections. This person will adhere to company policies, safety standards, and good housekeeping practices.

Knows and understands the current specifications of the Quality Policy and Procedures and contributes to the achievement of the quality objectives.

Job Description

The assembler is responsible for assembling component parts, lifting assembled parts into machines, and unloading the assembled part into cage.

This person will also be responsible for quality checks using appropriate gages as necessary. This person must pay significant attention to detail, must be self-motivated, and must be able to function as a team member in a group incentive environment.

The assembler will cooperate and communicate with all levels of the department and organization. This person may be called to work on other Assembly areas as needed. This person will maintain productivity standards and perform changeovers while exhibiting cooperation and communication skills. S/he must perform self inspections. This person will adhere to company policies, safety standards, and good housekeeping practices.

Knows and understands the specifications of the Quality Policy and Procedures and contributes to the achievement of the quality objectives.

Qualifications

CRITICAL SKILLS:
Technical

: CNC, MIG/Plasma/Laser welding, Data collection, SPC, blueprint reading, gauging, offsets & knowledge of current quality specifications.

Interpersonal

: Communication (verbal and written), teamwork, and motivation.

Organizational

: Multi-tasking, problem solving, planning, efficiency.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or equivalent and minimum of 12 mos. machining operator experience in a

manufacturing environment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to lift, bend, twist, and move up to 30 pounds repetitively.
