The CNC Lathe Machinist at TURBOCAM is responsible for the operation, set-up and utilization of the CNC Lathe and support machine procedures for the prototyping and production of machined products. This position resides in our Turbocam Industrial Division.
Areas of Responsibility
Perform set-up and operation of assigned CNC Lathe.
Must be able to interpret blueprints and be able to use various calibrated instruments to check dimensions called out on inspection reports.
Perform preventative maintenance and diagnostics on the CNC Lathe, Bridgeport and manual lathe as needed or required. Report all deviations in proper machine performance to maintenance personnel.
Advise and consult with lathe programmer, project managers and/or engineers for tools and tooling needed to complete turning projects.
Perform prototype support for lathe programs generated by lathe programmer. Insure proper use of programs and tools during prototyping and production. Give prompt recognition of program defects or shortcomings to lathe programmer.
Design, build and/or maintain fixtures and set-ups for use in specified projects as assigned by the project manager or production manager.
Support and maintain overall shop efficiency by keeping work areas clean and safe. Cooperate and coordinate with other machinists for usage of shared shop equipment.
Inspect and document all operations per TURBOCAM procedures as stated in the Quality Manual as well as per specifications of the project managers.
Set up and operate the Bridgeport, manual lathe or other shop equipment as directed.
Support the company mission statement.
Complies with established safety practices and is proactive in communicating potential safety hazards to the Safety Committee.
Performs other duties as necessary.
Skills, Experience, & Education
High school diploma or equivalent
3 years experience as a CNC Lathe operator.
2 years experience running manual lathes.
3 years experience in set-up and programming of CNC Lathes.
General computer background.
