This description is intended to indicate the kinds of duties and level of difficulty required of this position; it is not intended to limit the right of any supervisor to assign, direct, and control the work of an employee under his/her supervision.

Primary Function:

Safely drive a passenger bus/van on a scheduled route from campus to off-campus locations.

Responsibilities:

1. Operate bus/van on special trips as scheduled.

2. Perform daily inspections as required. Fill gas tank when needed.

3. Promptly report maintenance issues.

4. Assist passengers on and off of vehicle ensuring safe transport.

5. Keep record of passenger numbers as required.

6. Be courteous with all passengers.

7. Follow all traffic and safety regulations.

8. Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily, for purposes of this job description each of the Responsibilities, may be amended from time to time, are considered “essential duties.” The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education/Experience:

1. Valid Driver’s License, Commercial License if necessary for vehicle.

2. Clean driving record and ability to meet federal and state driving standards including federally required drug testing.

3. Experience with professional driving and basic vehicle maintenance preferred.

4. Must meet DMV vision requirements.

Language Ability:

Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Math Ability:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:

Knowledge of Microsoft Office preferred but not required.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Regular and predictable attendance is required.
