The Cafeteria General Helper is responsible for preparing desserts, salads, sandwiches and other foods, assists in baking and preparing other main dishes; assists in setting up serving counter; prepares and assists in the serving of foods from the serving line; assists in cleaning and storing cafeteria equipment and food supplies; works with custodial and maintenance staff in the maintenance and operation of the kitchen and equipment; and other related work as required.
Job Hours: 2 hours
Qualifications: Knowledge of: methods of preparing food, including salads, sandwiches and simple desserts; basic kitchen utensils and equipment.
Ability to: follow oral and written directions; follow proper safety and sanitation requirements; operate equipment found in school cafeterias; meet the physical requirements necessary to safely and effectively perform the assigned duties; establish and maintain effective work relationships with those contacted in the performance of required duties.
Experience: one year of experience in food preparation and kitchen maintenance preferred.
Education: equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade preferred.The ability to successfully meet physical requirements of the job. Must pass an approved pre-placement medical assessment.
Salary: $9.98
