Plans, coordinates, supervises and evaluates the day-to-day operations of the canteen and assists in the office under the office manager; maintain stock of drinks and snacks; conducts inventory of all clothing, food, and beverages; responsible for cash received at the canteen; supervises other staff member assigned to work the canteen.

Coordinate the stocking of the canteen with drinks and snacks and drink machines;
Ensure popular items are always available. Orders are to be approved before being placed with vendors;
Maintain record of canteen supplies used for camp program;
Prepare detailed inventory of all clothing, food, and beverages;
Monitor any cash received at the canteen until turned into the Office Manager;
Maintain and clean canteen daily to include emptying garbage cans, checking restrooms, re-stocking supplies, and hosing outside area;
Receive, record, and secure camper money on registration days;
Distribute camp t-shirts for campers each week;
Supervise other staff members assigned to work canteen.
Assist with copying, filing or other office responsibilities as needed;
Assist with preparations for camper registration including checking in paperwork;
Collects and checks all USDA sheets for each camper at registration;
Keep USDA records at meals;
Complete proper USDA forms for food deliveries;
Keep all USDA forms filed and in proper order for each camping period;
Meet with USDA inspector.
Participate enthusiastically as a member of the camp staff team to deliver and supervise evening programs, special events, overnights and other all-camp activities and camp functions; Sit with camper tables during meals and serve as a table monitor when needed;
Keep personal living quarters neat, clean and ready for inspection;
Be available to participate and assist with camp programs and activities as directed by the Camp Director;
MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT USED:
General Office Equipment
Knowledge of the principles and practices of child and youth behavior and development;
Ability to build and maintain effective mentor and professional relationships with children and youth;
Ability to communicate effectively with campers and camp staff;
Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work in order to accomplish work in compliance with quality standards and deadlines.
MENTAL AND PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
Ability to communicate and work with groups participating (age and skill levels) and provide necessary instruction to campers and staff;
Ability to observe camper and staff behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior-management techniques;
Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to the activity;
Physical ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid; Must be able to assist campers in an emergency (fire, evacuation, illness, or injury) and possess strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision of campers;
Ability to meet attendance requirements;
Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
Some physical requirements of the Canteen/Office Assistant position could be endurance including climbing, standing, some bending, stooping, and stretching. Eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to manipulate canteen/office equipment and activities are required. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate camper activities/programs and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Have a willingness to live in a camp setting and work irregular hours delivering a program in the facility available. Operate with daily exposure to the sun and heat and varying environmental conditions.
Two years’ experience working with children in a camp environment preferred, OR any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Camp Staff Orientation is from June 10th - June 16th. Camp Sessions run from June 17th - July 27th. If for whatever reason you are unable to be here for the entire season, please let us know on your application. Orientation is NOT optional.
