Responsibilities:
Engagement

Create strategic vision for program and engagement.

Identify uninvolved student populations, develop and implement strategies for significantly increasing the number of Jewish students contacted and engaged by Hillel.

Coordinate student leaders as facilitators and intermediaries in working with these target groups.

Communicate regularly with students through various engagement tools.

Be accessible for student-initiated private conversations, and feel comfortable with referrals for counseling or to other resources when necessary.

Act as a resource and mentor to students.

Program Development

Develop and implement a full array of on and off campus programs – engagement, educational, religious, cultural, social, community service, etc. – best suited to the needs of UNLV students.

Ensure the development of multiple student program communities that will provide a variety of opportunities and pathways into Jewish student life.

Support student initiated programs; attend most programs (including those occurring on evenings, weekends, Jewish holidays, retreats, Israel trip).

Play a key role in planning and evaluation of overall programming.

Develop and implement student program plans and student engagement plans on an annual and/or term basis.

Empowerment and Student Leadership Development

Develop a strong student leadership working with the overall vision of UNLV Hillel.

Recruit student leaders to build and sustain a community.

Advise the student board and other leadership groups and committees.

Work with the current student leaders to improve their leadership skills, and identify future student leaders.

Empower the student leadership to carry out their responsibilities for programs.

Be available for student-initiated private discussions; refer for counseling or to other resources when necessary.

Qualifications:
The successful candidate should have a deep understanding of university culture and a commitment to Jewish life and both personal Jewish growth and the growth of Jewish students. Creativity, drive, flexibility and excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills are essential. Must be capable of working independently and have the ability to prioritize to meet multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work flexible hours needed to get the job done. Candidate should have some experience with budgets, fundraising, and board development and be comfortable in a technology-rich environment. A Master’s degree in Jewish Education or Jewish Communal Service and prior successful professional experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience is desired.
