With indirect supervision, performs clerical functions including but not limited to: patient reception, appointment scheduling, computer data entry, maintains patient files, and sorts office mail. Performs functions related to billing including ICD-9 and CPT coding, enters charges, collects and posts payments and reconciles deposits. Assess patient vital signs, administers injections, assists physician with procedures prepares for procedures, answers the telephone, calls in prescriptions, performs drug screens and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: High School Diploma or its equivalent required, Medical Assistant Certification preferred. Previous clinical experience required including the ability to take vital signs, phlebotomy, EKG, and injections. Physician office experience preferred. Ability to spell, alphabetize and count accurately with ability to work in an automated environment. Previous ICD-9 and CPT coding preferred with knowledge of medical terminology required.
