The Clinical IT tech Project Manager role functions as the overall lead for the Hospitalist/MD improvement program that consists of multiple IT projects targeted at improving the productivity and ability of employed physicians to improve healthcare outcomes. This individual will work with IT cross-functional areas and the hospitalist team to determine project feasibility, develop the detailed project plan, coordinate resource requirements, develop and design solutions, refine budgets for the programs and associated ROI models, and develop other related project/program documents (e.g. RAID, risk management, etc.). Directs system analysts, software designers and programmers to determine best methods to achieve project objectives. Responsible for applying project management knowledge, skills, tools and techniques to project deliverables, processes, and systems.

In addition to all responsibilities of a project manager which include managing all aspects of a project including initiating, planning, executing, closing and controlling, responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Coaches and mentors project team members; mentors other project managers around project management methodology; determines project scope; develops resource, risk, quality, cost, and scope management plans;

Defines quality gates for each project methodology phase; defines critical success factors; establishes and manages the project warranty period.

Acts as subject matter expert for project and program managaement related tools and processes.

Development of requirements and solutions for hospitalists/MDs that include iPad and iPhone solutions, remote access (MIFI, wireless, other) connectivity, new applications to improve overall productivity.

This position is a hands-on position and will also perform feasibility analysis, time-motion studies, workflow, solution development and implementation, limited financial analysis and produce requisite documentation.

Job Qualifications

Requires BA/BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline with IT focus degree

7 years of project management experience in broad-based information systems

5-7 years of healthcare IT is highly preferred.

Must have a minimum of 3 years leading and directing project tasks; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.

Project management certification highly preferred within one year of job placement and prior to moving to the next level.

Knowledgeable about healthcare administrative operations and IT related systems: eligibility, billing, claims, customer service, etc.

Direct experience in healthcare clinical delivery and related applications (e.g. EMR, Case Management)

Highly experienced in Microsoft Word and proficient in other MS Office tools such as Visio, PowerPoint, Project, and SharePoint

Demonstrated application of and proven success of project management methodology, management tools, analysis and research tools, documentation tools, and reporting tools required.

Experience in coaching and mentoring project team members preferred.

Minimum background in financial analysis is highly preferred for ROI/project projections
