Coordinates services, programs, and outreach/communication for career counseling, including one-to-one career counseling, workshops and presentations, and related programming. Provides students with assistance in self-assessment, occupational exploration, decision making and goal setting, and self-marketing. Works directly with business/industry partners, CTE faculty, and the Workforce Development Director to promote student internships and job placement. Assists students in their pursuit of personal, educational, and career goals by providing academic advising and career development services. Participates in committee assignments and other academic and institutional support activities.
Assists students in exploring academic, career and personal goals, including selecting courses and combinations of courses that reflect individual interests and abilities and meet curriculum requirements.
Maintains knowledge of the curricula for FRCC degrees, certificates, courses, and issues relevant to transferring to Colorado four-year institutions. Maintains knowledge and currency with FRCC policies and procedures for admissions, enrollment, and completing a program of study.
Provides career counseling to students, coordinates outreach/programming related to career services, and markets career services at various events on campus.
In conjunction with FRCC’s business and industry partners, CTE faculty, and Workforce Development, assists in the development and promotion of student internships and job placement.
Represents the department or the division on campus, College, and community activities and committees.
Coordinates various departmental programs and projects, including planning, implementation, management, and evaluation.
Responsible for information and display of information in career services physical area and online.
Provides input in budget development and monitors expenditures. Supervises part-time career counselor and career counseling intern.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Graduation from a college/university with a Master's degree in Career Development, Counseling, Counselor Education, College Student Personnel Administration, or a related field.
- Three years of counseling/advising experience and/or higher education student services experience.
- Knowledge/ability to operate standard office equipment.
- Knowledge of career development and academic advising models. Experience in planning programs, writing grants, preparing reports, analyzing data, etc. Communicates effectively, verbally and in writing. Interpersonal skills. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Commitment to diversity and ability to work with a diverse college community.
- Career counseling experience.
- MBTI certification, Strong Interest Inventory certification.
- Experience using social media (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.) to promote career events and services.
