Salary: A minimum starting salary of $16,403 (17A).

The ideal candidate must have a Masters’ degree in Counseling or a related field with emphasis on assessment and counseling; experience working with adults in a One-stop Career Center such as or similar to PA CareerLink®; excellent group presentation, facilitation and individual counseling skills; practical knowledge of assessment tools and their application.

Description Delaware County Community College, a competency-based institution, committed to diversity invites applications for part-time grant funded Career Development Specialist position.

This position provides vocational and skills assessment, career counseling support and referrals to partner and community agencies for the purpose of assisting individuals seeking services to obtain entry or re-entry into the workforce. It is supervised by the Director of the Workforce Entry Center / PA CareerLink located on the Marple Campus. Individuals in this role function as an integral part of PA CareerLink operations in Media as well as Chester City. Candidates may be required to provide service at one or both sites, with site assignment made at the sole discretion of the Director. This position is grant funded and may expire June 30, 2014 .

Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to administration of appropriate vocational and skills assessment instruments to identify customer preparedness for employment; Identify and assess customer’s potential barriers to employment, and facilitate referrals to supportive partner or community agencies if deemed necessary; Complete a comprehensive interpretation of assessment outcomes, employment history and psychosocial information to determine customer need for skill development; Provide guidance for employment search process relative to customer need; Facilitate tracking processes and complete case notes for customers and services provided; Develop, adapt and facilitate career development workshops when required; Collaborate and cooperate with colleagues for quality scheduling, reporting and peer review process; Other duties as assigned.
