Part-time Position (.50 FTE, approximately 18.75 hours per week)

Position Summary : C.A.R.E.S (Credit Attainment, Recovery & Employability Skills) is a 21st Century Alaska Community Learning Center. It is grant funded and designed to provide beyond the school day support to the Juneau School District students grades 9-12 who are credit deficient. The program will also work with drop outs who want to return to school, make up credits and graduate with a diploma. This position will engage in a comprehensive, developmental program designed to nurture and encourage compassionate, responsive and contributing citizens by assisting students to develop academic, career and personal/social competencies.
The incumbent will be responsible for planning the academic and enrichment program needed for graduation including:
Oversight of student schedules once enrolled into a quarter class.
Conduct student entrance interviews and oversee student orientations.
Provide daily support to CARES students and oversight of their class schedules.
Oversee Community Partnerships and coordinate volunteers for CARES classes.
Lead teacher of curriculum development process Provide guidance to evening school itinerant teachers.
Support lead developers of the modules as well as implementation of modules.
Work with Learning Center staff to ensure student needs are met.
Weekly updates on student enrollment numbers and other quarterly data .
Due to the set up and needs of C.A.R.E.S. students, staff hours will be determined individually and individuals will be required to work evenings.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education.
Valid Alaska teaching certificate or ability to obtain upon hire.
Proven ability to assist at risk students in reaching their goals.
Successful experience with curriculum development using backwards design and curriculum integration.
Master's degree in education preferred.
Experience teaching in a non-traditional setting.
Proven ability to coordinate community partners and teachers in designing and implementing classes using "backwards design".
Successful experience working as part of a team to develop programs for at-risk students.
