This position only works 10 months per year. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as team leader in the Admissions Branch and provide responsible and skilled management in directing all facets of the admissions operation and provide professional day-to-day contact, interaction, and problem resolution to ticket-buying and pre-ticketed customers. The position receives delegated responsibility for the daily operation of the admission branch including personnel management, cash management, internal auditing, customer service and service recovery, emergency and drill operations and any other requirements which may impact admission operations. Employee works independently and reports to the Admissions Branch Manager/Cashier III. The position’s responsibilities include delegated administrative and management responsibilities; communication; admissions operations in the areas of ticketing and entry operations, cashiering using point-of-sale (POS) terminals, maintains Payment Card Industry (PCI) standards and security practices, report generation using Microsoft/Office and CounterPoint back office, guest relations and service recovery. Delegated administrative and management responsibilities include seasonal staff management, scheduling, training and mentoring, problem resolution; employee safety and health management to maintain and model a work environment free from safety and health hazards; conservation and sustainability to support the zoo's certified Environmental Management Systems program goals and objectives. Position explains policies, rules, and regulations with tact and courtesy; transmits radio messages using established protocols and procedures; assists in writing policies and procedures, training materials, develops forms and formats for records/reports used by staff; interacts daily with co-workers, supervisors, organization officials, and the general public to provide assistance, relay information, and coordinate work.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies:
The position receives general supervision and exercises considerable independence in managing branch operations; therefore, the following competencies are required: · Considerable knowledge in admissions and ticketing operations, ticketing policies, rules and regulations, cash management principals, products, processes and equipment, sufficient to ensure that procedures are correctly followed by others and to determine when exceptions or changes are required.
  • Knowledge and understanding of keyboarding skill in operating a standard PC, Microsoft/Office and computerized point-of-sale (POS) terminal.
  • Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures. Ability to meet, interact, and deal with and communicate with public over the telephone, radio and in person often in stressful emergency situations tactfully, courteously and effectively.
  • Ability to perform activities requiring moderate physical activity. Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment. Requires handling of average-weight objects, standing and/or walking for extended periods of times during entry busy hours and days of high guest visitation.
  • Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments with skills in gathering data, compiling information, and preparing reports.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Graduation from high school and three years experience in receiving, disbursing, and accounting for cash and cash items; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be from appropriately accredited institutions.
