Regular, Full-Time, RCUH Non-Civil Service position with the University of Hawaii Cancer Center, located in Honolulu, Hawaii. Continuation of employment is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, availability of funds, and compliance with applicable Federal/State laws.


DUTIES: Performs a variety of laboratory experiments in cellular and molecular biology. Carries out cell permeability assays, Western blotting and ELIZA analysis. Maintains mammalian cell lines and performs varied cellular based assays. Maintains mouse colonies including animal husbandry, genotyping and tissue collection. Performs data management and preparation of data for presentation in manuscripts, seminars, and other formats. Manages the laboratory, places orders and maintains lab organization including freezers.

PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university in a Biological Science field. EXPERIENCE: One to three (1-3) years of experience working in a research laboratory performing cell and molecular biological procedures. Experience with tissue culture, Western blotting, ELIZA assays, animal husbandry and genotyping. ABIL/KNOW/SKILLS: Working knowledge of general principles of biological and biochemical subjects and molecular biology. Able to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing. Able to use common Personal Computer (PC) computer software for word processing (e.g. Word), database/spreadsheet (e.g. Excel), and data analysis (e.g. Graphpad Prism). Skilled at Adobe photoshop and Acrobat. Ability to maintain organized notebook and lab.
