CELL LEADER (Cores/Machine Shop) - 1st Shift
EDUCATION/PRIOR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Requires five years experience as a senior level Machinist and/or Metal Fabricator
Excellent written and oral communication skills required
Previous supervisory experience preferred
High School Diploma or equivalent
Leads employees in performing a wide variety of machining or sheet metal fabrication operations. Determines and organizes work assignments for group and delegates those assignments with the direction of the supervisor. Performs direct work demonstrating the ability to perform any of the various operations within the group. Maintains workflow, ensures availability of proper materials, tools and fixtures. Monitors safety practices and housekeeping. Interacts with other departments in manufacturing to resolve problems that interfere with the group’s productivity. Train new and less experienced operators and completes required paperwork. Possesses a good understanding of manufacturing operations and related processes.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES OR AREAS UNDER INCUMBENTS CONTROL
Fills in during the supervisor’s absence
Make job assignments at the supervisor’s direction or in the absence of a supervisor
Continuously strives to make processes more efficient to improve quality
Assist employees with technical problems to ensure that quality is maintained
Continuously works towards reducing tooling costs and set up time
Works with Manufacturing Engineering and/or Tool Makers
Inspects parts and assists employees with difficult inspection techniques
Ensures that job packages are properly prepared and tools are available
Works closely with schedules to meet delivery.
