Job Description:
  • Under moderate supervision: Perform various cellar
tasks: Clean & sanitize equipment, apply good
housekeeping practices, perform wine movements,
pump-overs, shoveling, drains, top barrels, add
chemicals to wine, operate less complex equipment,
measure and calculate workplace data.
  • Perform moderately complex cellar and barrel tasks
including but not limited to assemble blends per
Winemaker instructions, add fining agents for
clarify wine, powder filtration, pad filtration,
shipping and receiving, crush operator, scale
operator.
  • Operate moderately complex equipment such as lees
filter, centrifuge, press, etc.
  • Provide feedback to Winemaking, Cellar, and Barrel
staff on best practices.
  • Responsible for compliance with CWUS sustainability
policies and practices which are economically
viable, socially acceptable and environmentally
sound. This is done by supporting programs at each
location for conservation, energy efficiency, and
recycling, which are critical for our operations to
achieve tangible environmental results.
  • Safety: Follow safe operating procedures, support
safety programs and policies to safeguard personal
safety, company property, environmental and team
member’s safety.

Job Requirements:
2 - 3 years cellar experience, or multiple harvest
cellar internships/assignments
Forklift Experience
Ability to operate various types of cellar
equipment/machinery, and hand tools
Basic math skills, and ability to read meters
Good communication skills
Degree or coursework in enology, viticulture or related
degree program helpful, but not required
Ability to work well in a team environment and/or on an
individual/self-directed level as appropriate
Must be able to work indoors, outdoors, and in extreme
hot and/or cold climates
Must be able to work long hours, especially during
harvest, which may include evenings, weekends, and
holidays
Must be able to work in high places on ladders, tanks,
and catwalks
Must be able to climb stairs
Must have a good sense of smell, in order to detect
quality flaws or inconsistencies when performing various
cellar functions
Must be able to lift up to 55 pounds on a frequent basis
Will be required to mix chemicals in order to perform
various cellar functions
