Central Care, Inc. is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to work for the US Coast Guard Clinic at Houston, TX
The Medical Assistant shall perform a full range of professional Medical Assistant concepts and practices on site, using Government furnished facilities, equipment and supplies to a variety of patients. All aspects of the services shall be commensurate with the capabilities of the provider and the Medical Department including but not limited to the items listed below
Medical Assistant will work up to 8 hours a day, Monday-Friday (excluding Federal Holidays and other Base Down Days) between the hours of 6:00am and 2:30 PM. There may be on occasion requirements to work outside the normal hours to fulfill the needs of the patient population.
The duties include but are not limited to the following :
Assess patients needs for CMA/MA care, plans for Medical interventions, assess the effectiveness of the interventions and alters the Medical plan and interventions appropriately;
Administers oxygen, subcutaneous and intra-muscular medication
Prepares patients for surgical and or diagnostic procedures;
Prepares, operates, and monitors specialized equipment such as cardiac monitors, defibrillators
Provide immediate evaluation and management of emergent problems as they occur in addition to regular scheduled appointments
Reviews and verifies patient eligibility for care in accordance with Defense Eligibility Enrollment Reporting System (DEERS) computer system guidelines

A certificate or Associate degree as a CMA/MA from a state accredited program and 12 months experience within the preceding 36 months; or,
Certification from a military medical assistant ''A'' school (i.e. Health Service Technician, Hospital Corpsman) and 12 months experience within the preceding 36 months, or
Thirty-six (36) months experience within the preceding 60 months as a medical assistant, medical receptionist, or medical records technician in a clinical practice and completed the requirements for medical assistant certification from one of the four organizations that follow:
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) from the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) from the American Medical Technologists
National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) from the National Center for Competency Testing
Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) from the National Healthcareer Association
Maintain current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) for the Health Care Provider by the American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross (ARC), American Safety & Health Institute (ASHI) or the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP).
