      JOB SUMMARY

      Responsible to ValleyCare Health for supporting the corporate mission, vision and values. Responsible to Rehabilitative Services for the performance of ancillary screening tests and assisting with physical exams. Responsible to the customer for courteous, accurate, timely service.

      RESPONSIBILITIES AND MAJOR DUTIES Performs testing for physicals, including audiometry, vision, spirometry, height, weight, VS, EKG and lab tests.

      Collects and handles drug screen tests.

      Greets and triages patients.

      Performs office functions including generation of charts and billing, collection of payment, and insurance information, filing, and answers telephone.

      Must be willing to work in the clinic and industrial settings

      Performs other duties as assigned

      Qualifications
      EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE High school graduate or GED with no prior experience or specialized training. Associate degree in medical assisting from a college or technical school preferred.

      LICENSURE, REGISTRATION AND/OR CERTIFICATION

      Certification as a medical assistant required.

      ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

      Broad knowledge in professional area and in medical technology. Ability to correctly spell, file, and type 35 words per minute. Knowledge of regulatory, legislative and JCAHO standards related to Occupational Health.

      LANGUAGE AND MATH SKILLS

      Ability to read and follow simple verbal or written instructions, and write legibly. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

      COMPUTER OPERATIONS

      Basic personal computer skills including electronic mail, word processing, basic spreadsheets and work with graphics.

      RESPONSIBILITY FOR PATIENT CARE

      Requests services based on physician’s orders. Communicates physician, patient, and family needs to the appropriate staff member
