Provides direct and indirect basic nursing care within the Certified Nursing Assistant's scope of practice under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse

  • Provides basic nursing care to patients within the Certified Nursing Assistant's scope of practice including actions that meet their psychosocial, age specific and physical needs
  • Demonstrates knowledge of basic disease entities
  • Assists and provides for all activities of daily living
  • Completes documentation, which reflects current nursing standards, policies and procedures
  • Assists physicians, nurses, and other members of the healthcare team with procedures and performs services requiring technical and manual skills within the CNA scope of practice
  • Manages and operates unit equipment safely and correctly
  • Assists in maintenance of a safe and clean environment under the direction and supervision of the registered nurse
  • Demonstrates knowledge of current patient safety goals and NVH's policies and procedures supporting standards of care
  • Demonstrates positive oral and written communication skills
  • Communicates, in a timely manner, to supervising nurse any patient's needs, concerns, questions, data collection information or observed changes in patient's status and responses
  • Communicates appropriately with patients, their guests, and visitors
  • Communicates and collaborates with other health care team members to provide an interdisciplinary approach to patient's needs and ensure a positive environment
  • Interacts with a high level of professionalism, respect and dignity
  • Maintains patient confidentiality
  • Participates in the clinical development of self and others by assuming responsibility and accountability for assigned unit activities
  • Demonstrates support for organizational goals for improving patient, staff, and physician satisfaction
  • Participates in the department's continuous quality improvement activities
      • High School Diploma/GED Required
      • (1) year experience in an acute care hospital preferred.
      • Licensed CNA in the State of Nevada
      • BCLS Certification required
      • Ability to work effectively with computer based charting and other clinical software programs
      • Adaptability to change, organizational skills
      • Ability to read and communicate effectively in English
