Job Description
As COTA, your responsibilities include but not limited to: Function in accordance to physician's orders; work under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist; assess patients; carry out therapy programs to restore maximum reasonable function and to minimize disability following disease, injury, or genetically acquired disabilities. Specific tasks are outlined as follows:
  • Assist in observing patients doing tasks, asking patients questions and reviewing patients' medical history;
  • Assist evaluating patients' conditions and needs;
  • Assist in establishing a treatment plan for patients, laying all the types of activities and specific goals to be accomplished;
  • Helping patients with various disabilities with different tasks - helping an older person with poor memory use a computer - leading an autistic child in a play activity;
  • Demonstrating exercises that can help relieve pain for people with chronic conditions, such as joint stretches for arthritis sufferers;
  • Evaluating a patients' home or workplace and identify how it can be better suited to the patient's health needs;
  • Assist in educating the patient's family and employer about how to accommodate and care for the patient;
  • Assessing and recording patients' activities and progress for evaluating clients - for billing and reporting to physicians and other healthcare providers

Per Diem - (-20H/Week) or Long Term Per Diem (+30H/Week)

Monday to Friday and Weekends - open positions

Qualifications

An Associate's Degree in Occupational Therapy Program is required; proven track record of effective patient care; minimum of 2+ years post graduate experience as COTA in either LTACH, Sub-Acute, SNF, Inpatient/Outpatient environment (with minimum 1 year 'current' position as COTA).

Paper works:
  • Active License in New Jersey
  • Proof of licensure/certifications and all healthcare requirements (ppd, physical, shot records) - MUST BE AVAILABLE AND CURRENT
  • Specialty certifications/credentials - NBCOT, a must
  • Professional References
