Chair of the Business Department/Associate Professor Business

The Department of Business is one of the largest departments at Chestnut Hill College. It offers a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Accounting; a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Management; a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Marketing; and an interdisciplinary Bachelor of Science (BS) in International Business, Language, and Culture. Minors are available in Management and in International Business. These majors are structured to assist students in planning for graduate education, public service and the corporate world.

This is a tenure track position appointment at the Associate Professor level. A Ph.D. or D.B.A. in a Business related field is required, with a concentration in Management and/or Finance preferred. In addition college-level teaching experience is required.

As Chair, the applicant should be able to provide leadership to faculty and students towards the achievement of all departmental goals which include providing: (1) a high quality learning environment, (2) scholarly achievement; (3) curriculum and program development and enhancement; (4) quality advisement and mentoring to students; and (5) service to the department and college.

Specifically, the Chair provides leadership and coordination for activities in the business department and is accountable for the overall management, quality, and integrity of the respective academic programs within the business department. The Chair also will oversee recruitment and supervision of adjunct faculty members, professional development for faculty, advising students, reviewing and assessing curriculum, developing the master course schedules, developing and managing department goals and budget, actively participating in college, advisory, governance, and program/instruction committees, campus activities, and activities that represent the college in the community, and maintaining a climate of open communication, collegiality, and teamwork within the department.

The applicant is also expected to contribute to the teaching needs of the department. These are primarily undergraduate required and elective courses in the fields of Finance, Management, Marketing, and International Business. The applicant should provide evidence of a record of recent success and achievement related to the courses to be taught.
