Integrates the specific educational focus of the Physical Therapy Department into the major goals of the College of Health Care Sciences by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate managers. Appointment to the rank of professor requires a record of distinguished scholarship and outstanding teaching ability, evidenced by recognized professional productivity in the field(s) of specialization. Appointment to the rank of Associate Professor normally requires a record of substantial success in teaching, scholarship, and service. Appointment to the rank of Assistant Professor requires completion of professional training, which in most disciplines will be a terminal degree (usually the earned Doctorate),and the clear promise of a successful career in teaching, scholarship, and service.
Essential Job Functions:
Supervisory/Administrative Responsibilities: 1. Manages faculty and administrative support staff assigned to the Physical Therapy Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the policies of Nova Southeastern University and the Health Professions Division. 2. Is responsible for the organization, administration, review, planning, and development of the Physical Therapy Department including the entry level, DPT, T-DPT, and PhD programs. 3. Continually reviews the programs' curricula to assess effectiveness of both the academic and clinical aspects. 4. Allocates the Physical Therapy Department's faculty and financial resources. 5. Manages the distribution of workload among faculty and staff. 6. Oversees the scheduling of classes, internships, and the reporting of students grades. 7. Monitors the recruitment of faculty and students. 8. Oversees the development and evaluation of faculty. 9. Advises and counsels students, faculty, and staff in matters pertaining to the Physical Therapy Department. 10. Holds ultimate responsibility for all degree programs offered by the Physical Therapy Department. Academic Responsibilities: 1. Oversees the accreditation and self-study processes. 2. Facilitates cases, teaches units, and teaches courses as needed. 3. Participates in and/or chairs committees for the University, Health Professions Division, College of Health Care Sciences, and for the Physical Therapy Department as assigned or elected. 4. Works with the Dean of the College of Health Care Sciences to set program goals and objectives, including research and service activities. Financial Responsibilities: 1. Projects and manages the Physical Therapy Department budgets. 2. Aids a coordinated effort in establishing needs for equipment and supplies for purchase. 3. Assists in the procurement of outside funds.

Maintains a personal professional development plan, which may include research and/or other creative activities, to assure growth and currency within an academic or administrative field.
National or State Licensure, if applicable.
Major (if required):
1. Must be a graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy Program. 2. Must have a minimum of five (5) years of clinical experience and have a record of experience in administration and teaching. 3. Minimum of three (3) years of progressive supervisory experience.
Previous supervisory experience in a higher educational institution.
