Applicants are invited to apply for a twelve-month, tenure-track position as Chairperson of the Physical Therapy Department. Eight full-time faculty are seeking an enthusiastic individual to lead the department and offer mentorship for new and seasoned faculty in research and publication. The Chair will be charged to lead the department administratively and will have a modest teaching load. The Chair will be responsible for team building and fostering a cooperative and collaborative environment within the department and the University's interprofessional education initiative. Candidates who have an interest in developing interdisciplinary clinical or basic science research could be involved with faculty from the other four colleges in the ETSU Academic Health Center including the Quillen College of Medicine, the Gatton College of Pharmacy, College of Nursing and the College of Public Health and within the College of Clinical and Rehabilitative Health Sciences The department is housed on the shared ETSU/Quillen Veterans Administration hospital grounds and has a strong affiliation with the VA. Many clinical practice, educational and research opportunities are available including a new Community Health Center opening in October, 201 that is a collaboration between the College of Nursing and College of Clinical and Rehabilitative Health Sciences.

East Tennessee State University is located in Johnson City, Tennessee close to the Virginia and North Carolina borders in the Appalachian Mountains . This region is a recreational haven offering camping, fishing, mountain biking, whitewater rafting, hiking and snow skiing. The surrounding area offers many cultural/social events such as community festivals and fairs and is located in to the Appalachian Trail in Tennessee. Qualifications: Candidates must be doctorally prepared (Ph.D. or equivalent) in a discipline appropriate for their teaching responsibilities. Candidates with a practice or teaching background in wound care, cardiopulmonary, pediatrics are encouraged to apply. Time management skills are important to manage the scholarship, teaching, service and administrative duties of the Chair's position. The successful candidate must have or be eligible for Tennessee Physical Therapy licensure.
