The Medical Registered Nurse is responsible for coordinating the nursing care of assigned patients in the unit in order to provide quality patient care to patients ranging in age from adult to geriatric. The Medical Charge Nurse is a registered nurse responsible for assisting the nurse manager in the achievement of the unit goals and objectives. In collaboration with the nurse manager, the charge nurse assists with counseling and disciplinary processes of the nursing staff. The Charge Nurse also assists with administrative tasks as assigned by the nurse manager which include but are not limited to entering of departmental charges, staffing, and nursing outcomes monitoring. Other aspects of the role include the ability to critically think and intervene in crisis situations. The charge nurse coordinates the nursing care of assigned patients in the unit in order to provide quality patient care to patients ranging in age from adult to geriatric.
Employee will be responsible for knowledge and skill necessary to provide care based on physical, psychological, educational, safety and related criteria for the adult and geriatric population.
Minimum Education and Training:
Graduate from an accredited school of Nursing.
Minimum Work Experience:
- Bachelor's of Science in Nursing preferred.
- One or more year's recent clinical experience as a Medical RN preferred
- Current TX RN License
- Current ACLS certification preferred (required within 1 year of employment)
- BCLS certification required
