The Isenberg School of Management, a prominent school at the University of Massachusetts Amherst with a growing regional and national reputation, is seeking applicants for a Chief Marketing Officer (CMO). The CMO will be responsible for the strategic oversight and implementation of the School’s marketing and communication efforts to assure that a consistent image of excellence is portrayed in all materials and for developing strategies for enhancing and focusing that image.

Creating a brand identity for Isenberg is critical to compete with other business schools. The brand messaging must be consistent across all programs and initiatives. The CMO will be central to developing and implementing the branding, for ensuring the quality and scope of multi-media coverage, and for measuring its effectiveness in achieving marketing goals. The CMO will promote the School’s brand through traditional and non-traditional public relations, promotional events/vehicles and advertising in support of all Isenberg activities, including but not limited to, admissions, advancement/alumni relations, career services, and faculty development. The CMO will exercise direct supervisory responsibility over Isenberg Communications staff, and will work with other Isenberg staff engaged in marketing efforts within their individual departments, programs, centers, development and service areas to assure integration related to all Isenberg’s marketing and communication efforts.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in business, humanities, fine arts, or social sciences (Master’s preferred) and at least 7 years of experience in a position responsible for the production of creative outputs required.

Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge and experience in marketing, public relations and communications principles and standards. Advanced knowledge of social media usage (e.g. Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter) to affect organization communication goals. Knowledge and experience with publication design, advertising and marketing principles. Knowledge of and experience in establishing and maintaining relationships with media. Demonstrated ability to write clearly, concisely and compellingly. Experience working with commercial printers and knowledge of printing technology. Ability to maintain positive approach under pressure. Ability to design, write and edit traditional and non-traditional public relations and advertising. Advanced interpersonal and community relations skills. Skill in budget preparation and fiscal management. Ability to provide visual attention and attention to written accuracy and detail. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel. Ability to work independently, problem solve, take initiative, set priorities, handle multiple projects, and exercise good judgment in a fast-paced, dynamic, deadline-driven environment in an organized and professional manner. Flexibility to work non-standard hours.

Hiring Salary Range: $53,300 -$67,500

Normal Starting Salary Range: $53,300 – $60,400

For a candidate with exceptional qualifications, a salary of up to $74,600/year may be considered.
