Located in Chicago, IL Hartgrove Hospital, a 46-year community landmark, provides psychiatric treatment for adults, teens and children. In addition, the 150-bed hospital offers unique therapies for youth with problems related to traumatic brain injury or Neuropsychiatric syndromes. Hartgrove Hospital also has specialty diagnostic and evaluation services for children and adolescents who exhibit sexually aggressive behavior. Children and Adolescent Day Treatment Programs are also available in addition to intensive inpatient services. The successful experienced Chief Operations Officer will:

Direct the assigned departments and participates in the general management of the hospital in close support of the CEO in order that the hospital achieves its operating and clinical objectives in accordance with sound general management principles, regulatory and accreditation standards, and the UHS mission. Directs the activities and management of assigned departments to ensure that each department fulfills its mission and business objectives

Participates in strategic business and financial planning and management that includes capital operations budget preparation, forecasting, and monitoring

Develops productive working relationships in the health care community that includes health care providers, regulatory and accreditation bodies, and medical/physician staff.

Provides leadership for facility-wide initiatives and programs such as CQI, risk management, loss control and other task forces to implement practices that affect multiple components of the hospital organization.

Serves as Administrator-on-call as required. May serve as interim CEO for periods of extended absences such as vacations and leaves of absence.

Participates in business development activities, programs and initiatives

Performs general supervisory and managerial functions, which include staffing, compensation / salary administration, performance assessment, staff development, employee discipline and employee communications and relations


Requirements Include:

Working knowledge of behavioral health management practices and clinical operations required.
Working knowledge of state and federal regulatory and various accreditation requirements related to behavioral health management required.
Working knowledge of operations and financial management and marketing methods required.
8 + years experience as a Chief Operations Officer or Senior Administrator in a Healthcare Setting: 8 years experience in a Behavioral Health Executive role preferred
Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred.
