Chief of Trauma, UTHealth-Houston
The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) Medical School is seeking an academically motivated individual to serve as Chief of Trauma within the Division of Acute Care Surgery. Academic rank will be at the Associate or Professor level. The individual will join a practice of 14 surgeons dedicated to the care of the acutely injured patient. This is a unique opportunity for those interested in a leadership position at a very busy academic trauma center. Salary is extremely competitive and commensurate with experience.

UTHealth is affiliated with the Texas Trauma Institute at Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center in Houston - a Level 1 Trauma center recognized as one of the busiest trauma centers in the nation. The Texas Trauma Institute is a collaborative effort between UTHealth and Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center. The Texas Trauma Institute sees approximately 6,000 adult, children and burn admissions each year at our ACS verified adult, children's and burn centers.
As part of the Texas Trauma Institute, Memorial Hermann operates its own helicopter service with more than 3,000 transports a year. Within the 861-bed hospital, the Texas Trauma Institute occupies a 23-bed shock trauma ICU and approximately 200 beds overall with plans to grow the physical footprint.
The successful candidate will be committed to patient care, fellow, resident and medical student education. The division has a dynamic and productive research program. Individuals must have demonstrated excellence in clinical medicine, teaching and scholarly activities and be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. Candidates must be Board Certified in Surgery and Surgical Critical Care, have significant experience in Emergency General Surgery, and be eligible for a Texas license.
