Kimball Midwest, a national distributor of maintenance, repair and operation products, is searching for a Network / VOIP Engineer in our IT Department for our Columbus, OH location. We are looking for a qualified systems engineer experienced in implementation, administration and integration of enterprise solutions to join our team. Our team is primarily responsible for managing best-of-breed solutions and services to facilitate scalable operations. As a member of the team you will ensure that the systems are designed well, customized appropriately, and supported effectively.
Plan, design, install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain Cisco VOIP/Call Manager/Unity/Network equipment on the LAN/WAN.
Test and Turn Up trunks, PRI’s, and network links in Cisco Router/Voice Gateways
Determine viability of hardware/software changes and/or modifications related to networking and VOIP on Cisco routers, switches, and call center servers
Interface with departments to analyze the business requirements and translate them into effective solutions
Stay abreast of related technology and recommend future system enhancements, software purchases or system upgrades
Application of service packs & updates during maintenance windows
Troubleshoot issues outside of normal business hours
Conduct Proof of Concept presentations for emerging technologies and provide recommendations to management
Work closely with others in a multi-discipline group to provide solutions and planning of Network and VOIP systems
Required skills for this position
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field or experience
Required Certification: CCDA or CCNP (Voice or Security) certified or equivalent work experience with at least 5-6 years of the following network disciplines (Routing Switching, VOIP, or Security)
Demonstrated skills in Cisco Voice technologies using Cisco Call Manager, Cisco IPCC technologies, and Cisco Unity
Strong Cisco VOIP networking background and a clear understanding of network telephony, H.323, SIP and excellent troubleshooting skills
Hands on experience configuring, updating and supporting a Cisco VOIP phone solution in a multi-location environment
Excellent understanding of and experience escalating to, and interfacing with connectivity providers, data as well as voice for new or changing services or to troubleshoot issues
VOIP architecture and design ability to support changing business directions
Willingness to work weekends or after hours to provide escalated support as needed
Preferred skills for this position
Experience supporting DHCP and DNS
Experience with Microsoft Networks and Windows Server support
Experience with Asterisk
Strong background in networking (Cisco switches & routers, Firewalls, Cisco VPN, etc)
Experience implementing and supporting VPN solutions
Strong debugging and troubleshotting skills
