Under the direction of the Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs (or other designee), the Administrator is the manager for all City Heights Educational Collaborative and College Avenue Compact programs and staff. These programs, funded by Price Charities and SDSU, are strategically designed to increase the number of students who graduate from San Diego Unified School District's Hoover Cluster of schools ready and prepared to matriculate at, and graduate from, San Diego State University. The Collaborative/College Avenue Administrator works in close collaboration with School District administration, school-level administration, and university departments in order to implement programs that are aligned with the program vision. The Administrator, as program manager, has both a wide breadth of experiences to guide work in curriculum planning, professional development, resource contracting, staffing, grants and program evaluation. The ability to successfully work in a vibrant, ethnically and linguistically diverse community is essential.

Minimum Qualifications

BA or BS and/or equivalent training and relevant work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices or programs

10 years of progressively responsible experience in an office or administrative environment

Demonstrated successful management experience

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Strong communication, and interpersonal skills

Understanding of public schools, specifically Grades 7-12

Understanding of university resources and structure

Experience with and understanding of an inner city and ethnically diverse community

Highly motivated self-starter that approaches work with a high level of enthusiasm and sense of urgency to succeed

Experience with grants, budget, evaluation and reporting requirements

Proven ability to work well with others at all levels and to establish and maintain cooperative and cordial working relations with a wide range of internal and public contacts

Ability to make complex decisions and problem solve

Ability to utilize standard office software programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel

Ability to clearly explain complex budgetary, programmatic and personnel issues to staff and media

Ability to handle delicate internal issues (personnel or otherwise) with discretion

Well organized with the ability to meet deadlines and possess good judgment and common sense

Effective decision-making and problem solving in situations requiring prompt attention

Ability to provide coaching and feedback to staff
