Overall description

The Client Leader supports our external clients by having a clear understanding of their business and the challenges they face, and leverages customer insight to create value for their business.

In the long term, the Client Leader’s overarching responsibility is to help the client achieve a singular focus on the customer – with the belief that this will translate to sustainable and long term success for our clients.

This role focuses on leading clients in the retail sector.

The Client Leader will be based in the new location of our Chicago office, and will be part of a fast-paced, growing part of dunnhumby.

The Client Leader will have an opportunity to help shape the office culture.

Key Responsibilities

The Client Leader is responsible for:
Client Impact:
Builds client relationships.

Develops deep understanding of client’s strategies, needs and issues.

Tailors solutions to meet their needs.

Manages client expectations.

Ensures strong client satisfaction.

Provides thought leadership.

Translates client issues into new business opportunities and strategies.

Business Leadership:
leads day-to-day execution of activities and deliver on the statement of work.

Manages project timelines and resources.

Evaluates new requests and manage scope of work.

Troubleshoots issues.

Communicates status of projects.

Formally presents team deliverables to clients.

Team Leadership:
Solves complex business problems; coordinates the work of others on their team

People Management:
trains, develops, or inspires a team on specific skills and capabilities.

Shares best practices with your colleagues

drives internal ways of working, processes, services, tools and/or initiatives

Analytical Contribution:
creates potential solutions to problems, looks beyond the obvious solutions.

Assists the analysis team, and other colleagues, in distilling and delivering customer insights to our clients.

Maintains a working understanding of analysis techniques and methodologies.

Willingness to travel and be on-site at our client locations. Business travel may be required for extended durations at times.

Specific Requirements:

Applicants should have 8+ years of similar and relevant work experience.

Experience should include leveraging customer data to drive insights and business growth.


Applicants should have relevant experience in either or both:

Commercial / Client-side firms (eg. Marketing or insights roles at retailers or consumer package goods companies are ideal)


Client services firms (eg. consulting firms, analytics firms, advertising agencies, marketing research firms, direct marketing, etc.).

Experience with retail clients is ideal.


Applicants should have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree.


A Master’s degree is preferred, but not required.


Proficient with Microsoft Office (i.e. PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc.).


Passionate about marketing trends including digital, social media, and mobile trends


Adept public speaker; excellent presentation skills.


Ideal candidates are local to the greater Chicago area


Moderate travel is required (30 - 50%) for internal and client meetings
