he Coder/Pre-Authorization Clerk is responsible for verification of insurance benefit levels and patient pay obligations. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to: obtaining insurance authorizations for required infusions, procedures and clinic visits. Monitoring insurance verification dates and obtaining new authorization as required. This position will be responsible for identifying, sequencing and coding diagnoses and procedures to maximize reimbursements for outpatient services. Maintains the integrity of all medical records information by demonstrating a cooperative effort throughout the department and the Medical Center.
Education: Two year associate degree in business/medical administration, medical secretary or medical records technician course. Additional directly related work experience may substitute for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.Licensure: None required. CPC or CCS-P preferred. Experience: Minimum of 3 years coding/billing, insurance verification, office support, healthcare or clerical work experience.
Skills: ICD-9CM coding skills, medical insurance knowledge, able to use computer programs like Microsoft Word, Excel,
and Outlook-specialized medical scheduling software is preferred but not required. Ability to multi-task, superior
organizational skills, ability to remain focused in an environment with many repeated distractions and interruptions, ability to
de-escalate and handle stressful situations, promote a philosophy of teamwork, ability to view the big picture to visualize
how requests will impact patients, providers, and other schedules. Interpersonal Skills: Ability to motivate coworkers and
develop a team atmosphere. Maturity and ability to establish good rapport with patients, public and staff. Follows all HIPPA
regulations and maintains strict confidentiality. Maintains a positive and professional manner at all times

Coincide with Clinic hours Monday - Friday, 07:00 - 22:00
