- AS degree in Respiratory Therapy
- Minimum of two years recent pertinent clinical experience as Respiratory Therapist in a Level II/III NICU
- BLS and NRP certifications required
- RRT required
- Proficient in all aspects of respiratory care
The Clinical Specialist serves as the clinical expertise in evidence-based respiratory care practice and functions in the following roles: clinical expert, educator, researcher, and consultant. Leadership skills (system thinker and change agent) are role assumptions.
The role of the Sharp Mary Birch Hospital’s Respiratory department is to provide quality respiratory care to all its patients (adults and neonates). Our Level III NICU gives you the opportunity to work with neonates in our progressive unit. Our staff is comprised of Clinical Specialist, Clinical Leads, Adv RCPs, RCPs, Material Specialist, and a Pulmonary Supply Assistant.
We are a close, team oriented group. Our fast paced, progressive department has a ventilation philosophy of weaning patients off ventilators quickly. As a RCP at Sharp Mary Birch, you are also given the chance to participate in high risk deliveries the best and brightest neonatologists and perinatologists in healthcare. Sharp Mary Birch Hospital for Women and Newborns is a nationally recognized, full-service Women's Hospital with approximately 8,500 deliveries per year and is part of the Sharp HealthCare system, which won the 2007 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award.
Located in San Diego, it is nationally recognized for its care of expectant mothers and delivering babies, as well as its Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit – the largest in Southern California. Other services include Operating Room suites and PACU, Mother/Infant Services, Women’s Acute Care, and the Perinatal Special Care Unit with centralized monitoring specializing in high-risk antepartum care.
